No Need to Fear

We live in days where fear is at an all-time high. There are many things in our lives and in the world around us that seem uncertain and hopeless. Fear can take control of our lives.

You may be wondering why I am talking about fear on Easter weekend?

It is because sin has ruined everything. Sin is the cause of everything we fear in this broken world. The Bible makes it clear we have all gone astray and have gone our own way. We all are guilty. All of us have the same greatest enemy- sin. As a result, there are millions of things we fear.

We fear being alone
We fear broken relationships
We fear sickness and suffering
We fear not having enough
We fear not being enough and failing
We fear tragedies that could happen
Most of all, we fear death

Even the thought of these possibilities can cause panic and a sick feeling in our stomachs.

Easter reminds us of the answer to every fear and we are reminded of the great hope we can have in our hearts instead! From the very beginning, God had already planned a way to conquer our greatest enemy and deepest fears.  The wages of sin is death and we were under the wrath of God; but since Christ died for our sins according to what scripture had predicted, death has been swallowed up in victory. While sin and the devil still cause havoc on this world, the curse of sin has already been defeated when Jesus rose from the grave.  As Job 19:25 says it: “for I know my Redeemer lives and at the last He will stand upon the earth.” There is a guaranteed end date to the power of Satan and sin coming so soon.

Even if all of our greatest fears do come true in this life, we can be sure of this one thing: Anyone who confesses with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord, they will be saved.(Romans 10:8-9) He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus. (1 peter 1:3) Whatever the future holds, God has proven His great love for us when He sent His only Son to die for us while we were still enemies of him. If Jesus loved us enough to die and to bear all the agony of the cross for us, we can trust Him with our lives. When we seek the Lord, He promises to deliver us from all our fears and to be ever-present in our times of struggle and trouble. The wall of hostility has been broken down because Christ Himself is our peace.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow

Because He lives, everything has forever been changed

Because He lives, those who place their faith in Jesus Christ have nothing they need to fear!
