A Perfect Relationship (A Easter Poem)
Knowing Jesus Christ personally is an indescribable gift.
No other religion knows of a relational God,
A God who is far above us and yet He still came down low to seek reconciliation with His people.
We don’t have to always be striving to appease Him- wondering if we are doing enough to be on good terms with Him.
He tells us exactly what He is looking for.
A broken and contrite heart He will not despise.
Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord and believes in their heart that He rose Jesus from the dead will be saved.
The beginning of the world was very good with people in perfect communion with their God. This is why they were made.
One day through they decided to love their own desires more than God.
A flawless relationship was now fractured and people hid from God for the first time.
Since then all of the devastation of sin in our hearts- constantly preferring ourselves and things over the God who fashioned us.
When the world seemed to be on the verge of despair,
Glimmers of hope began to shine into the darkness.
God’s extraordinary plan unfolded.
A way for the common to connect with the Holy, for the unbridgeable chasm between the clean and unclean to be bridged.
He gave the nation of Israel a place they could go to meet with God.
Rich and poor, offered countless sacrifices to the priests to seek forgiveness and to be in His presence.
The work and the cost involved was worth it.
This was good but something better was coming.
Thousands of years passed; and people longed and prophets prophesized.
That magnificent day- when Jesus who is God and the exact representation of His Father in Heaven,
Took on human flesh and became like us in every way yet knew no sin.
He is the perfect Priest.
He never tires, He never dies, He doesn’t have to deal with His own sin first,
He enacted a covenant between God and man that never ends.
In Him we find constant access to the Throne of Grace.
Come before Him in reverent joy.
No matter how unclean we are, Jesus’ righteousness is given to us when we come to Him in faith.
In no way could we ever deserve this relationship and yet the Father welcomes us in.
When we treated the Savior of the world the worst- we abused, betrayed, deserted and killed Him;
He offers us His best- forgiveness leading to an eternal relationship with Him that can never be broken.
So if you are hearing His voice calling out to you- please don’t harden your heart.
Come to Him on the terms He has set out in His word.
He has the strength to make the blind see.
He has the power to make the dead alive again.
His merciful offer has an expiry date.
Then we will each stand before the God who created us and knows every single thing about us.
Our sin will be dealt with in one way or another.
So cling to the grace of God, depend on His mercy today. Accept the forgiveness He offers.
Jesus bore the full weight of our sin and shame.
He experienced total separation from the Father and felt the just wrath of God on our behalf so that we don’t have to.
Even more amazing than that- He promises inexpressible things to those who love Him.
We know all of this is absolutely true, His resurrection from the dead is the unshakable proof.
In Him we find abundant life, water for our thirsty souls, satisfaction for our hungry hearts.
On the best of days and the hardest of days, He walks with us and His Spirit gently leads us in the way we should go.
Even though we struggle and fail often, His unconditional love never changes.
Little by little we are changed to look more like Jesus. He gives us a new heart that wants to honor and obey Him.
Let’s entrust ourselves to our loving Savior.
This is the God of all glory. He will not be belittled.
In the midst of chaos, He is building His Church. He is making all things beautifully new.
Love Him. Worship Him in awe and holiness. Seek Him. Thank Him. Surrender to Him. Rest in Him. Enjoy Him. Celebrate Him.
Look forward to the day we are in perfect communion with our God once again.
